NO. 1 LADIES’ OPERA FESTIVAL SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
April 10-20, 2013 Workshops are on weekdays from 5:30 – 8:30 PM (including dinner) at Moving Space Theatre (Maru-a-Pula) + performances are on the 10th, 13th, 19th at Baobab School Hall. Our grand Closing Ceremony will be offered together with the Maitisong Festival at Maitisong Theatre on Saturday, April 20. See below for details:
WEDNESDAY, April 10
5:30 PM OPENING CEREMONY & CONCERT
“The Power Ladies of Opera”
featuring:
Lindsay Feldmeth, soprano
Nandani Maria Sinha, mezzo
Bogdan Dulu, piano
performing some of the best-loved opera arias of all time, from Mozart to Puccini. We’ll talk about strong women and the men who sing with them! You’ll hear the music of opera’s most powerful ladies: lovers, martyrs, gypsies, innocent sweethearts, and evil queens!

Learn the historic bel canto secrets of support and resonance.

Join us for a multi-media presentation about the greatest opera singers who have ever lived: Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Leontyne Price and many more!

7:00 PM VOCAL MASTER CLASS by Nandani Maria Sinha
Nani Sinha was already a successful young opera singer when she suffered an airplane accident that broke her lower back and paralyzed her left leg. After several years of intensive rehabilitation, she rebuilt her technique. Now she works at Los Angeles Opera and Long Beach Opera, and she is singing better than ever. Learn about her tools for superior singing!
FRIDAY, April 12
5:30 PM Singing Through Opera History
A wild ride through classical vocal repertoire from 1603 to 2013, with live performances of opera arias and art songs by Lindsay, Nani and Bogdan!

7:00 PM Opera Scenes Workshop: Style & Idiom (language, diction, ornamentation, musicianship and agogics)
SATURDAY, April 13
7:00 PM CONCERT: “The Jewelry Box”
A fun concert displaying Bogdan’s virtuoisty on the piano, as well as Lindsay and Nani’s favorite opera arias with some crazy vocal pyrotechnics, plus some our favorite songs from jazz, musicals, and other fun surprises!

5:30 PM PIANO MASTER CLASS
Bogdan Dulu, gold medalist at the 2011 Seattle International Piano Competition, will share the secrets of being an international concert pianist.
Pianists (and singers) of all levels are welcome to attend and participate in this exciting event!

7:00 PM Opera Scenes Workshop: singing your best ALL the time (maintaining a high standard, zapping stage fright, using the stage to help you with your technique)
WEDNESDAY, April 17
- Meet opera singers from theaters & opera schools around the world as we place a skype call to 3 other cities!
- Learn how to use the internet to find resources for study & opportunities for professional singing
